Freelance

  • The Herald-Palladium, local daily newspaper, beginning in March 2006, Lila has worked with a variety of editors on over 250 stories of local interest
  • researcher on annual special-interest publications by The Herald-Palladium such as The Tour Guide and The Answer Book, now called Our Community
  • From 2010-2013, Lila was privileged to interview over 60 physicians and health professionals to compile the history of Southwestern Medical Clinic in a book, Mission. Medical. Witness. which has now sold out of its second printing


  • In response to that book, Lila received a letter of honor from Michigan State Senator John Proos



 

Fiction

  • Three short stories published in the children's Sunday School paper, ENCOUNTER


  • Earned First Place in The Happily Ever After writing contest Inspirational Fiction Category (organized by the Mid-Michigan Romance Writers of America) for Shade at Midday, 2007


  • Earned First Place in the Rose City Writing Contest Inspirational Fiction Category for City of White Stones, 2007



Editing

  • At Countryside Nursing Home in South Haven, MI, from July 2000-2005, composed and edited a corporately praised facility newsletter which was effective as a communication to past and present residents and their families as well as a marketing tool
  • Lila has published over 40 articles since 2005 in the activity director professional journal A New Day and now serves on the advisory board for A New Day


 Michigan Region IV Area Agency on Aging

  • edits a quarterly newsletter for the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren/Relatives as Parents program   
  • edits a bi-monthly newsletter, Caregiver News, aimed at those who care and love individuals with chronic health needs
